Consulta para Direção da Coppe (2023 a 2027) A Comissão para Pesquisa junto ao corpo social, visando a indicação da nova Direção da Coppe/UFRJ, de responsabilidade do Conselho Deliberativo da instituição, informa que as inscrições das chapas para concorrerem à Direção da Coppe deverão ser realizadas entre os dias 8 e 12 de maio de 2023, na Diretoria Acadêmica. The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), in collaboration with the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares, IPEN), will conduct a five-day symposium titled “Nuclear Nonproliferation and Security for Women in STEM in Latin America and the Caribbean” in São Paulo, Brazil, on June 19-23, 2023. The symposium’s working languages are Portuguese and Spanish.
The primary objective of the symposium is to provide female technical experts and scientists with a broader understanding of nonproliferation, the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and nuclear security policies, as well as the various institutions, tools, and mechanisms necessary to address current nonproliferation and nuclear security challenges. The course aims to support worldwide efforts in promoting women in the nuclear field in general, and in the areas of nuclear nonproliferation, peaceful uses, and nuclear security in particular. The course program will feature leading international and regional experts and practitioners from academia, national governments, and international organizations.
The symposium will promote the participation of women in science, technology, and innovation. Its goals are to increase the capacities and representation of women in STEM in decision-making and implementation of national, regional and global nonproliferation, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and nuclear security discourse. The target group for this symposium would be about 20 – 25 female university professors, researchers, and practitioners from the region. Symposium speakers and panelists will include regional and international experts in a wide range of nuclear security and nuclear nonproliferation issues and challenges, with an emphasis on the role of women in STEM.
Course organizers welcome applications from all genders, but a priority will be given to women working in fields related to nuclear nonproliferation and security. English language fluency is recommended.
This is a cost-free event to regional participants. Symposium organizers will cover round-trip economy-class airfare and/or ground transportation, hotel, meals and incidentals. To be considered for selection and travel support, interested individuals should submit an online application. The deadline for applications is May 12, 2023, but candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Successful applicants will be notified by May 19, 2023.
